Family First Firm Foundation & Senior Resource Alliance Join Forces for Emergency Food Distribution

In response to the nationwide delay of Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits brought on by the federal government shutdown, the Family First Firm Foundation partnered with the Senior Resource Alliance to host a special food-distribution at Northland Church in Longwood aimed at supporting older adults and food-insecure seniors in our community.

Why We Acted

With millions of Americans, including a significant number of seniors, impacted by delays in SNAP benefits, local nonprofit organizations and senior-service groups face increased pressure. Recognizing the urgency, the Family First Firm Foundation and Senior Resource Alliance seized the opportunity to provide direct support to older adults who often have fewer options and may face heightened vulnerability when food assistance is interrupted.

Why It Matters for Older Adults

Seniors often face unique challenges when federal support is interrupted: limited income, dietary restrictions, transportation issues, and less flexibility to absorb sudden benefit gaps. By stepping in during this uncertainty, our organizations helped fill a critical gap.
We emphasized not only food access, but also the value of connection- the chance for seniors to ask questions, access resources, and feel seen and supported by the community.

We extend heartfelt gratitude to all the volunteers, vendors, sponsors, and staff from both organizations who made this event possible.
