This is a great question because we have so many different terms of art that are very similar. We have living wills, last wills and testaments, living trusts. They all get used interchangeably, but they're all different. In this case, a living will is actually a medical document. It's a document that tells your loved ones whether or not you want to be on artificial life support. You can tell them I do want to stay on artificial life support, or I don't. The beautiful thing about that document is it takes the decision away from your loved ones. Instead of having to make a decision about the unthinkable. You've made it for them, and it's simply their job to carry out your wishes.
